What Is the JLR House of Brands? 

To understand what the Jaguar Land Rover House of Brands is, we first have to understand Jaguar Land Rover. Jaguar Land Rover is the brand that encompasses both Jaguar and Land Rover, but they also own the Discovery and Defender brands. A similar version of this is like Dodge and RAM both being separate names but having both Dodge and RAM vehicles housed under one roof. They’re all essentially part of the same company. 

So, why is there a change for Jaguar Land Rover to be known as the House of Brands? Jaguar has many ambitions for the future, and one of them is putting more emphasis on the individual brands within its company: Jaguar, Land Rover, Defender, and Discovery. So, the goal is that by changing the name to the House of Brands, each of the four brands within the company will be known as their own brand rather than as an extension of JLR. 

Think of the change like a famous luxury restaurant. The restaurant has a few main themes, like “luxury”, “elegance”, etc. However, they have different categories of food on their menu, and each one of those categories has its own set of unique dishes. JLR is a luxury brand, but as a House of Brands, buyers are encouraged to look at Jaguar, Land Rover, Discovery, and Defender as their own unique brands with their own unique car models.

The Jaguar Land Rover logo has also undergone a change that fans of the brand are sure to notice. The brand has condensed its name down to a three-letter symbol: JLR. According to JLR, “The descending j aspires to add elegance, while the lighter weight of the emblem illustrates the step change to refinement and modernity.” This aligns with the brand’s aim to add attention to the individual elegance of each brand while also introducing new models to each brand’s lineup. 

Reimagine

The Reimagine strategy by JLR is part of the brand’s efforts to establish itself as a modern luxury company, and that includes more than just updating its vehicles’ designs. The brand plans to significantly reduce emissions across its operations by 2030, and it plans to be carbon net zero across all of its operations by 2039. This is why JLR is introducing all-new EV models to its brand lineups, including models like the I-PACE.
